Read MoreIn September of 2018, Charity and I went to Arizona for our first time. My first memory of Arizona is “Holy Crap Its Hot!”. They say its a dry heat. But I can tell you that 110 degrees is hot dry or not. But despite the heat, Charity and I got our to enjoy the mountains and the magnificent views of this new landscape that we never been in before. The mountains out there are not the same as the ones in New England.
We spent a couple of days in Sedona. This place was absolutely magical. That is the only way I can describe it. The giant mesas that just pop up in the middle of the desert are mind blowing. The shapes rocky formations are so unique its hard to imaging Mother Nature shaping these. Charity and I will get back there is the very near future to climb several of these beauties.
Here are some of the photos I took while we were in Sedona.
There is a company that offers hot air ballon rides every morning for sunrise. I captured this while standing on a mountain somewhere during this light show
Our first stop was at Bell Rock for a short hike.
Some random mountains (and people) as we climbed Bell Rock.

Charity doing some light reading on our way back down.
On the first night in Sedona, I headed out to Cathedral Rock Trail and took my first astrophotography photograph of the Milky Way. Not bad for my first attempt. But I can do better next time
While I was out shooting the Milk Way, Charity stayed in the car. She was a little afraid of these little guys that you can see while walking around in the dark.
The view of Coffee Pot rock taken at sunset from the airport mesa overlook. Unfortunately, there were no clouds in the sky. So the sunset was a little boring. But the views!!!
Another shot of Coffee Pot Rock that shows how the city of Sedona settles right up to the base of the mesas. I can’t believe waking up with something like this in my back yard.
On one of the days in Sedona, we rented a two person side by side ATV and drove all over the desert. It was AWESOME!! It allowed us to get to the head of the Devil’s Bridge trail with ease. Good thing, cause this hike was while short was straight up to get to this awesome natural bridge. It was busy up there, but people were taking turns and helping out taking pictures for people. Here is the obligatory couples shot of Charity and I. It doesn’t look it, but she was frozen in place here.
I, of course, have no fear and wanted to get a better view of things from the edge.
Charity eventually got out there for a solo pic. The Bridge is much bigger than it looks.
Another couple’s selfie with Charity and I admiring the views while riding around the desert in our ATV.
One of my favorite photos during sunrise. This is Court house rock from a distance.

Here is my artsy photo of a tree with Cathedral Rock seen through its branches,
